The Dam has been a topic of discussion across many political spheres even those who have nothing to do with it. But this is normality where dams are concerned, see the @Muh-Lisa post on the 3 Gorges Dam https://www.chattytube.com/forum/technology/chinas-3-gorges-dam-the-most-biggest-and-most-powerful-dam-ever-built-cost-13billion-stunning-but-are-there-other-costs
Or even on the night of 16th of May 1943 where the British Royal Air Forces with Commander Guy Gibson deployed combat aircrafts armed with the now dubbed carpet bombs to the Rhur Valley region of Germany and blew up 3 dams over two nights. Which at the time was key to the Germany industrial machine.
Many other examples, all over the world, where there is dams there seems to be difficulties attached.
That being said, Ethiopia wants to be great with their own Dam. I look forward to seeing it being built and unveiled.
